INTRODUCING THE TROSKY KNEE VIDEO SERIES 1, 2, 3
Coach Trosky will breakdown the complexity of infield play, and specifically, fielding ground balls and the many different variations and simplifying it into 5 Hops, the 5 - last hops. In the knee series, we focus on the 3 Hand Actions and when to use them and the 3 Fielding Lanes:
1. Pick
2. Press

Hand versatility equates to consistency. The Trosky Knee Series goes into detail on when do the hands receive, when do they press, and when do they receive.

The Trosky Knee Series also dives into the 5 HOPS, Hop Manipulation and the Hand Actions required for each hop. From the firm roller to the long hop, short in-between hop to the challenging long in-between hop – every action is purposeful, leading to versatility and consistency.
COACH TROSKY SIMPLIFYING THE COMPLEX:
The magic happens when infielders master the manipulation of in-between hops (MANIPULATING THE DIFFICULT HOPS): example converting short in-between hops into short hops, extending long in-between hops and making them long hops, HOP MANIPULATION, work for the 2 inch hop!

Knee Series 1
Solo Series and Bonus
Series 1 is about judgment and decision-making, reading the hop, recognizing it, and reacting accordingly. Unpredictable reps are added towards the end of the drill, which help players improve their reaction time and recognize the ball.
- Create a new normal
- Slow the Game Down
- Create repeatable Efficient Hand Actions
- Enhance Reading Hops
- Utilize the 3 Different Hand Actions

Knee Series 2
3 Fielding Lanes
The “Trosky Knee 3 Hand Series”
avoids the practice of “Skill Maintenance,” and “Drill Monotony,”
building into each infielder elite vision, judgement, and actions from
all 3 fielding lanes. We accomplish this through:
- Challenge Reps
- Decision Making Training
- Stress Inoculation Training
- Sequence Variation Training
- Learning how to 3RP Read, Recognize, React
- Rhythm Reps

Knee Series 3
The Trosky 5 Hop Drill
At the core of infield play is consistency.
We want our infielders to make routine plays routine and even turn
difficult plays into routine ones. The key to achieving this level of
consistency lies in the versatility of their hands. Versatility equals
consistency, and this is where the Five-Hop Drill comes into play.
- Hop Manipulation
- Learn how to maintain Time and Space
- Create Depth when needed
- Learn when to move forward
- Create consistent, repeatable actions

“I met coach Trosky the summer before my freshman year of HS, and since then he has mentored me with my fielding and mental game. I’ve attended numerous zooms, one on one trainings and phone calls. I not only call Nate a coach but also a mentor and friend! I’m a better player by receiving everything he’s poured into me and use his teachings everyday from drill work to mental practices!”

He introduced me to a way of training that completely changed the manner in which I went and go about getting better in the infield and competing.
